Tento druh je veľmi populárny. Rozelu pestrú spoznáme podľa výrazného sfarbenia a svižného letu.
Žije nomádsky malých skupinkách, v otvorenej krajine nadmorkých výškach okolo 1250 metrov.
Rozely patria k agresivnejšim vtákom. Je dobré ich chovať po páre hlavne v čase hniezdenia bývaju samci agresívny, niekedy aj k samičkám.
Je naj obľúbenejším papagájom pre chovateľov,
lebo není náročná na chov a ľahko sa odchovávajú sú vhodne pre začiatočníkov.
Môžeme ju chovať aj vo vonkajšej voliére aj cez zimné obdobie.
Rozmery voliér sú rôzne, je dobre keď ma veľkú voliéru lebo je veľmi dobrým letcom.

Hnezdenie:
Búdku na hniezdenie majú radi zo stromových dutých kmeňov, ale aj robenú

Znáška je 4-8 vajec, ktoré samička zohrieva 19-21 dní.
Mladé rozely vyletajú vo veku 5 týždňov po vyletení ich rodičia ešte dokrmujú 3-4 týždne.
Pohlavie:
Pohlavie sa ťažko rozoznáva, najmä u mladých jedincov.
Samček: má perie jasnejšie a ozobie má tmavej farby.
Samička: má,naopak od samčeka, perie matnejšie a ozobie má svetlejšej farby.
Pre skúsených chovatelov je jednoduchšie rozoznať staré, ale aj mladé jedince
U mladých jedincov, ktorých pohlavie nevieme rozoznať, možeme pohlavie zistiť analýzou DNA.
Kŕmenie:
Živy sa semenami tráv a ovocím:
Suché semena: Slnečnica, proso, ovos, lúpaný ovos, ovocie a zeleninu napr.: jablká, zeler, čerešne, mrkva,,atď.
Treba dodať aj sépiovú kosť je dôležitá pre výživy a púpavu.
